Matthew Stephenson is a consultant general and oncoplastic breast surgeon working in Jersey. He studied medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London and qualified in 2003 with various prizes and distinctions, before embarking on surgical training throughout London and the South East of England. As well as publishing numerous academic papers, he is an award winning medical textbook author. His first book, How to Operate sells internationally and has become standard reading for surgical trainees.
His subspecialty area is breast surgery. In those patients he treats for breast cancer, he has particular expertise in saving the breast wherever possible rather than performing a full mastectomy. In those patients that require, or prefer a mastectomy, he is skilled in breast reconstruction, something previously not available in Jersey.
However he is also a general surgeon and as such deals with the full range of general surgical problems such as hernias, gallstones, lumps and bumps, abdominal pains and bowel problems, etc. You can see more details of these in this website.
He also offers a full range of cosmetic breast surgery, such as breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast lift as well as gynaecomastia surgery in men.
